The Cannes Yacht Festival
The Cannes Yacht Festival was founded in 1977 as a boat show in Cannes. Every September, the Mediterranean city in France presents around 600 boats in its ports, including motor yachts, superyachts, catamarans, tenders and sailing yachts.

But let’s get back to the Cannes Yacht Festival
In Cannes, the festival takes place in two ports, Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto.
Since 2019, the division has changed a bit. The sailing yachts are exhibited in the Port Canto at the other end of the Croisette. There are also, as always, the brokerage area. The motor yachts can be viewed at the Vieux Port.
The different locations are about 15 minutes apart by boat or bus shuttle. Which is not much of a challenge though, as all you have to do is show your ticket to be transported from one site to the other for free. I think it’s a fantastic idea, as I always manage to meet fantastic new people to interact with on this short distance.
Then there is another advantage for the guests of the fair, through this division, 1,000 running meters of additional berths were created, which is an increase of 7% compared to 2018.
Getting to the Cannes Yachting Festival
From Nice airport, you can take a shuttle bus directly to Cannes, or get on the 200 and 210 buses that go directly to Cannes. If you prefer to travel to the Cannes Yachting Festival in style, you can book a helicopter from Nice airport and be at the action in 7 minutes for about 500 euros.
Where to stay during the Cannes Yachting Festival
Right up front, book a hotel in advance because of the event most hotels are booked up right away. Tip from us, book a hotel for example in Antibes. Antibes is a resort between Cannes and Nice on the French Riviera.
Antibes is known for its old town, which is surrounded by fortification walls from the 16th century, beautiful. Also, with moorings for yachts. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a superyacht or two here without a lot of crowds.

Since the 2021 Düsseldorf Boat Show was cancelled, this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival can absolutely hold its own with a large fleet of 450 motor yachts and 115 sailboats.
